Se realiza un estudio experimental entre los enclavijamientos condilocefálicos (Técnica de Küntscher) y elásticos (Técnica de Ender), utilizando modelos de extremidad proximal de fémur de Araldite aplicando técnicas de fotoelasticidad a fracturas estables e inestables. Los resultados permiten afirmar que los enclavijamientos elásticos representan mejor las condiciones bioquímicas del fémur anatómico que los rígidos.

The prevalence of varices in patients with cirrhosis is stated to be about 50% and the risk of variceal bleeding 40% with mortality ranging from 30% to 60%. Differences may be due to patient selection and diagnostic criteria. The death risk of first bleeding seems to be higher than that of subsequent episodes (Christensen et al. 1981; D’Amico et al. 1986), indicating that the first bleeding episode causes a selection.

A study is made of the number of pineal gland synaptic ribbons in 35 maleWistar rats over a 24-hour period during the months of September and February, in correlation to the serum melatonin levels during the same periods and photophases.The results of the study confirm those reported by others authors and suggest that the synaptic ribbons may be the stimuli-transmitting organs facilitating pineal secretory function.

This study was carried out in an attempt to assess the pattern of cathepsin D variations induced by Doxorubicin (DXR) and to clarify the role possibly played by this endopeptidase in the onset of anthracyclines-induced cardiotoxicity. We evaluated the variations in both total and 'sedimentable' enzyme activity of cathepsin D in the heart of mice treated once a week for up to 8 weeks with DXR (4 mg/kg i.v.b.wt.) and sacrificed 12h, 3 and 6 days after 1, 4, 5 and 8 administrations. For example, if an antiproton is captured in a Pb atom, it can make radiative transitions from its n = 20 to n = 19 state. The antiproton is still well outside the nucleus in this case, so that nuclear effects can be neglected. Spectroscopic study of the aluminium/lumogallion system in the presence of non-ionic surfactants

Abstract The effects of different non-ionic ethylene oxide condensate surfactants on the fluorescence and the molecular absorption of the aluminium/lumogallion system are reported. Ethylene oxide condensates with fatty alcohols give higher micellar enhancement factors than tert-octylphenols or nonylphenols; ethylene oxide/propylene oxide copolymers provide only a 50% increase in the fluorescence of the complex. The aluminium/lumogallion seems to form mixed micelles with the fatty alcohol condensates; the strong complex/micelle interaction provides increased absorbance of the complex at 500 nm and higher fluorescence enhancement, allowing the detection of 0.11 μg l −1 aluminium.

Se realiza un trabajo experimental con 50 ratas machos de un mes de edad. la mitad de las cuales se somete a stress crónico mediante restricción de su espacio vital. Tras ser sacrificadas al cabo de 1, 2, 4, 8 Y 12 semanas se estudió la presencia de proteoglicanos sulfatados en la fisis tibial proximal con la técnica del azul alcián. Time-dependent frequency distribution of binucleate cells (BC) was studied in Ehrlich ascites tumor (EAT) growing in mice. In animals that received no further treatment, the number of BC increased slowly from 2.6% to 16.5% of total cells within 8 days. In animals that were treated with different doses of 5-fluorouracil (FU) we found clearly higher numbers of BC. The number of BC increased with tumor age. The increase observed after treatment was reached more quickly in animals that had received the highest FU dose. The final number of BC was also dependent on the age of the tumor at the time of FU injection.
