ResumenEste estudio describe la aplicacion de un programa de ensenanza de estrategias de inferencia para comprender palabras desconocidas, a traves de claves contextuales, con alumnos de quinto nivel de E. G. B. Participaron un total de 64 ninos distribuidos en dos grupos: experimental y control. El grupo de experimental recibio 18 sesiones de instruccion, en las cuales se realizaban actividades relacionadas con las siguientes estrategias: clarificacion de los fines de la tarea, descomposicion de la tarea en las partes constituyentes, autoevaluacion y justificacion de las respuestas. The direct reaction of VCl3 and ethyl acetate yields [V2(µ-Cl)2Cl4(MeCO2Et)4]1. The compound [V2(µ-Cl)2Cl4{CH2(CO2Et)2}2]2 was obtained in dichloromethane via the substitution of MeCO2Et in 1 by ethyl malonate. During crystallization of 2, under the influence of dioxygen and moisture, the tetrameric compound [{VOCl2[CH2(CO2Et)2]}4]·2CH2Cl23 was formed. The crystal structures of 1 and 3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies. The UV-VIS range photoiuminescence of entomophatogenic mushrooms Entomophora txaxteriana (Petch) Hall et Bell, Beauveria bassiana (Bals) Vuill as well as of biologicals on their basis enthomophtorin and bouverin are examined. They were worked out for abolition insect-pests of plants: louses of apple-tree and Colorado potato beetles, therefore obtaining ecologically clean fruits and potatoes. The biologicals were produced in the Institute of Biology (Latvian AS) by K. Jegina on basis of regional mushrooms.

Tumor Oxygenation in Anemic Rats: Effects of Erythropoietin Treatment Versus Red Blood Cell Transfusion

Anemia was induced in rats by the development of a hemorrhagic ascites. These animals also bore solid tumors (DS-sarcomas) on the hind foot dorsum. The effects of two methods for anemia correction on oxygenation in the solid tumors were compared in this study. Anemia was corrected either chronically by erythropoietin administration (1000 IU/kg) over 14 days (EPO) or acutely by transfusion with red blood cells (TR). Non-anemic and untreated anemic animals served as controls. Tumor oxygenation was determined in anesthetized animals using polarographic needle electrodes and pO2 histography. La bolsa serosa del psoas-ilíaco es una estructura anatómica bien definida, habitualmente presente en el adulto. La comunicación entre dicha bolsa y la articulación de la cadera se asocia frecuentemente a la coxartria. Presentamos un caso de agrandamiento de la bolsa serosa del psoas ilíaco en una paciente de 69 años. El diagnóstico de sospecha se estableció por la presencia de una masa inguinal y dolor de cadera. Abstract Changes in lipid composition occurred when tobacco cells (Nicotiana tabacum var. Xanthi) were treated with cryptogein, a proteinaceous elicitor from Phytophthora cryptogea. The most striking change was an increase in acylated steryl glycosides and steryl esters levels, certainly resulting from the glycosylation and/or esterification of free sterols. The Drosophila melanogaster tumor suppressor gene lethal(2)tumorous imaginal discs (l(2)tid) causes in homozygotes malignant growth of cells of the imaginal discs and the death of the mutant larvae at the time of puparium formation. We describe the molecular cloning of the l(2)tid+ gene and its temporal expression pattern in the wild-type and mutant alleles. Germ line rescue of the tumor phenotype was achieved with a 7.0 kb Hindlll-fragment derived from the polytene chromosome band 59F5. The l(2)tid+ gene spans approximately 2.5 kb of genomic DNA. Radiative Pion Photoproduction from the Proton and π + Meson Polarizabilities

We study the possibility of investigating radiative pion photoproduction from the proton at the microtron MAMI-B with the aim to obtain an experimental information about the π + meson polarizabilities. It is shown that an exposition time of about 30 days will allow to determine the π + meson polarizability with quite high accuracy.

Granulocytes (polymorphonuclear leukocytes, PMNs) and monocytes/ macrophages are important in wound healing. Within the first few hours PMNs and monocytes begin to infiltrate sites of injury. The major function of PMNs is to kill microbes and phagocytose cellular debris so that healing can proceed [1]. Monocytes/macrophages invading the wound are also active in phagocytosis. In addition they release a number of cytokines including growth factors, interleukin-8 (IL-8), and tumor necrosis factor (TNF-α) needed for new tissue formation and shown to stimulate PMNs [1–3].

The electronic and magnetic properties of different kinds of adsorbates on thin magnetized Fe(100) films have been investigated by means of spin resolving photoelectron spectroscopy. The study has been carried out with atomically physisorbed xenon, the molecule carbon monoxide, and metallic gold. The spin splitting of the Xe 5p signal can be explained by magnetic interactions with the final ionic hole state. The effect of two aporphines, liriodenine and norushinsunine, isolated from Annona cherimolia, were studied in the rat aorta in order to examine their mechanism of action. Both alkaloids (10–7–10–4 mol/l) showed relaxant effects on the contractions elicited by 10–6 mol/l noradrenaline (NA) or 80 mmol/l KC1, but, while liriodenine showed a nonspecific relaxant action on both spasmogens, norushinsunine was more potent on KC1-induced contraction. In Ca2+-free medium, both alkaloids (0.1 mmol/l) inhibited the responses elicited by NA, but not those elicited by caffeine. Using about 1.5 million hadronic Z decays recorded with the ALEPH detector, the lifetime of the b baryons has been measured using two independent data samples. From a maximum likelihood fit to the impact parameter distribution of leptons in 519 Lambda l(-) combinations containing a b baryon sample of 290 decays, the measured b baryon lifetime is tau(b-baryon) = 1.05(-0.11)(+0.12)(stat) +/-0.09(syst) ps.
