The racetrack microtron MAMI B [1] now under construction at Mainz will provide a high-intensity electron beam with energies up to 840 MeV. The 100% duty factor, high-quality beam is considered to be ideal for the investigation of the nucleus in the medium energy region. Coincidence experiments with the detection of the scattered electron and the hadronic reaction products will become possible in a wide kinematical range yielding the information about the response of the nucleus to the transferred energy and momentum. Abstract A convenient and conclusive method for determining the C-12 stereochemistry of neo-clerodan-20,12-olide derivatives, even when only one epimer is available, is by 1H NMR NOE measurements. The C-12 configuration of 26 neo-clerodane diterpenoids isolated from Teucrium species has been re-examined by using this type of experiment. The results indicated that all the previous assignments were correct, except for teupyreinin, where the previously assigned C-12(S) configuration must be amended to C-12(R). The word "space" will mean "Hausdorff locally convex space". This chapter presents a proposition which states if U be a neighborhood of the origin in a space E. If A is a barrel in E which is not a neighborhood of the origin and F is a closed subspace of finite codimension in E’ [σ(E’,E)], then U° ∩ F does not contain A° ∩ F. Suppose that U° ∩ F contain A° ∩ F. Then A° ∩ F is equicontinuous hence W is also equicontinuous. Since W° is contained in A, it follows that A is a neighborhood of the origin, a contradiction.

Abstract The electrocarboxylation of aldehydes to the corresponding α-hydroxyacids was described as impossible with conventional electrochemical systems. It is reported here that it is possible to realize it in diaphragmless cells making of sacrificial aluminum anodes. The method can be used also for the electrocarboxylation of ketones with good yields.

In recent years, a controversy has evolved concerning the usefulness of the trait concept for predicting a person’s actual behavior (see e.g., Alston, 1975; Bern, 1983; Bern & Allen, 1974; Bern & Funder, 1978; Eysenck & Eysenck, 1980; Mischel, 1968, 1973, 1983, 1984; Mischel & Peake, 1982, 1983). This controversy has also influenced paradigms in stress and coping research. There is an increasing tendency to abandon trait concepts (like “repression-sensitization”) and, instead, to adopt concepts like coping process or coping strategy to describe and predict stress-related behavior and behavior outcomes (see Folkman, 1984; Folkman & Lazarus. 1980. 1985: Lazarus & Folkman. 1984).

About two–thirds of all patients with spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage suffer from systemic hypertension. Additionally systemic hypertension is the main factor indicating a poor prognosis of intracerebral hemorrhage. This has been shown in our statistical evaluation of 117 cases of conservatively treated spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage. More than 48% of the hypertensive patients died, but only 30% of the normotensive patients (Fig. 1). In an experimental study we investigated the influence of systemic hypertension and normotension on epidural pressure and on the formation of brain edema during the first 12 h after artificial intracerebral hemorrhage.

Abstract Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) with the title ligand, L, have been prepared and characterized through elemental analysis, conductance measurements, electronic and infrared spectra, and magnetic measurements. For all hexafluorophosphate complexes monomeric species with CuL2 2+ and ML3 2+ (M=Co,Ni,Cu) have been isolated. In the oxalate complexes the C2O4 = group act as a bidentate bridge to form compounds with probable dimeric (copper(II)) or polymeric (cobalt(II) and nickel(II)) structures.
