Development and Preliminary Validation of Social Media as an Educational and Professional Tool Student Perceptions Scale (SMEPT-SPS)
2021
Although social media has an increasing presence both in university and sports settings, in the sports-management education context, no instruments (without being focused on one particular social-media platform, e.g., Facebook and Twitter) have been developed and validated that globally allow the academy to explore the perceptions of sports-management students concerning the educational and professional learning potential that these tools offer. Therefore, this research’s main objective is to develop and perform a preliminary validation of the social media as an educational and professional tool student perceptions scale (SMEPT-SPS). This study sample was composed of 90 Spanish undergraduat…

Why Am I the Only One You’re Talking to, Talk to Them, They Haven’t Said a Word? : Pitfalls and Challenges of Having the Child in the Focus of Family…
2021
Children with conduct disorders are at risk of being positioned in the family therapy as ‘the problem’. This study describes how the difficulties were talked about and how the child coped in this situation. The results showed: the parents produced symptom-oriented problem talk about the child’s behavior, rendering systemic reformulation of the problem challenging. The negative interaction made the climate unsafe and impaired consideration of the child’s behavior as a meaningful way for the child to become seen and heard. This study enriches understanding of the therapeutic challenge therapists face with high-risk families from the very beginning of the treatment. peerReviewed
The ribose methylation enzyme FTSJ1 has a conserved role in neuron morphology and learning performance
2021
ABSTRACTFTSJ1 is a conserved human 2’-O-methyltransferase (Nm-MTase) that modifies several transfer RNAs (tRNAs) at position 32 and the wobble position 34 in the AntiCodon Loop (ACL). Its loss of function has been linked to Non-Syndromic X-Linked Intellectual Disability (NSXLID), and more recently to cancers. However, the molecular mechanisms underlying these pathologies are currently unclear. Here we report a novelFTSJ1pathogenic variant from a NSXLID patient. Using blood cells derived from this patient and other affected individuals carryingFTSJ1mutations, we performed an unbiased and comprehensive RiboMethSeq analysis to map the ribose methylation (Nm) on all human tRNAs and identify nov…
Umbilical hernioplasty in cirrhotic patients with ascites A case control study
2021
Umbilical hernia is a very frequent pathology, and plastic with prosthetic material is the most frequently used surgical procedure currently used for its repair. In patients with cirrhosis in asciic phase, this pathology is particularly frequent, with a tendency to rapidly increase in size and to become symptomatic. In the past treatment with traditional surgery in cirrhotic patients was considered problematic and was viewed with reserve, and only recently is the surgical approach recommended also in these patients. This study is aimed to evaluate the feasibility and safety of open umbilical hernia plastic with prosthetic material in cirrhotic and ascitic patients. Our case-control study was…

Abstract: Nutritional interventions have beneficial effects on certain psychiatric disorder symptomatology and common physical health comorbidities. However, studies evaluating nutritional literacy in mental health professionals (MHP) are scarce. This study aimed to assess the degree of self-rated training and literacy relating to nutrition in MHPs. We conducted a cross-sectional survey across 52-countries. Surveys were distributed via colleagues and professional societies. Data were collected regarding self-reported general nutrition knowledge, nutrition education, learning opportunities, and the tendency to recommend food supplements or specific diets in clinical practice. In total, 1056 …
Five decades of corporate entrepreneurship research: measuring and mapping the field
2021
AbstractResearch on corporate entrepreneurship—venturing activities by established corporations—has received increasing scholarly attention. We employ bibliometric methods to analyze the literature on corporate entrepreneurship published over the last five decades. Based on the results of citation and co-citation analyses, we reveal central works in the field and how they are interconnected. We investigate the underlying intellectual structure of the field. Our findings provide evidence of the growing maturity and interdisciplinarity of corporate entrepreneurship and provide insight into research themes. We find that resource-based view and its extensions still remain the predominant theore…
The evaluation of workers by customers as a method of control and monitoring in firms: Digital reputation and the European Union's General Data Prote…
2021
As a method of surveillance and monitoring, the evaluation of workers by customers and employers and the disclosure of the results pose a series of challenges for the current legal framework of the European Union (EU). Employees subject to such evaluations are exposed to a far more intense and wider degree of monitoring of their work than traditional workers. The phenomenon arises from the adoption of a customer perspective, seeking to make work observable at all times, without any cost to firms. In this light, the author analyses the EU's General Data Protection Regulation, which establishes very specific restrictions when requesting and disclosing information about workers.
Absolute targets for HCV elimination and national health policy paradigms: Foreseeing future requirements
2021
The World Health Organization (WHO) targets for eliminating HCV by 2030 may be overambitious for many high-income countries. Recent analyses (ie, data from 2017 to 2019) show that only 11 countries are on track for meeting WHO’s elimination targets. For a country to be truly on track, it is important that the majority of infected individuals be identified and treated. There is still a need for country and population-specific evaluations within the different HCV screening and treatment strategies available, in order to assess their cost-effectiveness and sustainability and support an evidence-based policy for HCV elimination. Any health policy model is affected by the diversity and quality o…

CVB3 VP1 interacts with MAT1 to inhibit cell proliferation by interfering with Cdk-activating kinase complex activity in CVB3-induced acute pancreati…
2021
Coxsackievirus B3 (CVB3) belongs to the genus Enterovirus of the family Picornaviridae and can cause acute acinar pancreatitis in adults. However, the molecular mechanisms of pathogenesis underlying CVB3-induced acute pancreatitis have remained unclear. In this study, we discovered that CVB3 capsid protein VP1 inhibited pancreatic cell proliferation and exerted strong cytopathic effects on HPAC cells. Through yeast two-hybrid, co-immunoprecipitation, and confocal microscopy, we show that Menage a trois 1 (MAT1), a subunit of the Cdk-Activating Kinase (CAK) complex involved in cell proliferation and transcription, is a novel interaction protein with CVB3 VP1. Moreover, CVB3 VP1 inhibited MAT…
Phosphine Oxide Derivative as a Passivating Agent to Enhance the Performance of Perovskite Solar Cells
2021
Defects of metal-halide perovskites detrimentally influence the optoelectronic properties of the thin film and, ultimately, the photovoltaic performance of perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Especially, defect-mediated nonradiative recombination that occurs at the perovskite interface significantly limits the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of PSCs. In this regard, interfacial engineering or surface treatment of perovskites has become a viable strategy for reducing the density of surface defects, thereby improving the PCE of PSCs. Here, an organic molecule, tris(5-((tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)oxy)pentyl) phosphine oxide (THPPO), is synthesized and introduced as a defect passivation agent in PSC…

Functional proprioceptive information is required to allow an individual to interact with the environment effectively for everyday activities such as locomotion and object manipulation. Specifically, research suggests that application of compression garments could improve proprioceptive regulation of action by enhancing sensorimotor system noise in individuals of different ages and capacities. However, limited research has been conducted with samples of elderly people thus far. This study aimed to examine acute effects of wearing knee-length socks (KLS) of various compression levels on ankle joint position sense in community-dwelling, older adults. A total of 26 participants (12 male and 14…
Real-time Multispectral Image Processing and Registration on 3D Point Cloud for Vineyard Analysis
2021
International audience; Nowadays, precision agriculture and precision viticulture are under strong development. In order to accomplish effective actions, robots require robust perception of the culture and the surrounding environment. Computer vision systems have to identify plant parts (branches, stems, leaves, flowers, fruits, vegetables, etc.) and their respective health status. Moreover, they must merge various plant information, to measure agronomic indices, to classify them and finally to extract data to enable the agriculturist or expert to make a relevant decision. We propose a real-time method to acquire, process and register multispectral images fused to 3D. The sensors system, co…
Public relations and expectation theory : Introducing Relationship Expectation Theory (RET) for public relations
2021
Expectations provide organizations with information and cues about their stakeholders’ and publics’ values, interests, experiences, and knowledge. This chapter argues for a move that takes expectations beyond the current cursory level for different areas of public relations—reputation management, corporate responsibility, issues management, and legitimacy—toward explicit theoretical understanding and models for addressing expectations. The chapter introduces expectations as an intersecting phenomenon in public relations research and builds postulations for theorizing expectations in public relations by reviewing theories that address expectations in relationships, and by exploring different…
Active and Reactive Value Dimensions: A Dynamic-Based Perspective in the Hotel Sector
2021
Despite the wide acknowledgment of consumer value as a dynamic concept in marketing and tourism literature, few studies have addressed its dynamicity. This article provides an approach to the dynamic nature of value in a hotel experience by proposing a conceptual framework that seeks to explain the influence of value types on customer satisfaction and loyalty as being concatenated rather than simultaneous effects, as more usually described. The concatenation of effects is based on the distinction between active versus reactive values and is tested in a structural model consisting of eight types of value (Efficiency, Service Quality, Status, Esteem, Entertainment, Aesthetics, Ethics, and Es…

Occurrence of Free and Conjugated Mycotoxins in Aromatic and Medicinal Plants and Dietary Exposure Assessment in the Moroccan Population.
2021
Aromatic and medicinal plants (AMPs), as herbal material, are subjected to contamination by various mycotoxin-producing fungi, either free and conjugated. Such a problem is associated with poor storage practices, and lack of adopting good agricultural practices and good harvesting practices. Nevertheless, AMPs are poorly investigated. The purpose of this study was to investigate the co-occurrence of 15 mycotoxins (four aflatoxins (AFB1, AFB2, AFG1, and AFG2), ochratoxin A (OTA), beauvericin (BEA), four enniatins (ENA, ENA1, ENB, and ENB1), zearalenone (ZEN), alternariol (AOH), tentoxin (TENT), T-2, and HT-2 toxins) in 40 samples of AMPs frequently consumed in Morocco by using liquid chromat…
Mediterranean Diet Maintained Platelet Count within a Healthy Range and Decreased Thrombocytopenia-Related Mortality Risk: A Randomized Controlled Tr…
2021
There is little information on the dietary modulation of thrombosis-related risk factors such as platelet count. We aimed to assess the effects of Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) on platelet count and related outcomes in an older population at high cardiovascular risk. In participants of the PREDIMED (PREvención con DIeta MEDiterránea) study, we assessed whether an intervention with a MedDiet enriched with extra-virgin olive oil or nuts, relative to a low-fat control diet, modulated platelet count (n = 4189), the risk of developing thrombocytosis and thrombocytopenia (n = 3086), and the association between these alterations and all-cause mortality (median follow-up time: 3.0 years). Although p…

SARS-CoV-2-specific Cell-mediated Immunity in Kidney Transplant Recipients Recovered From COVID-19.
2021
BACKGROUND: The magnitude and kinetics of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2-specific cell-mediated immunity (SARS-CoV-2-CMI) in kidney transplant (KT) recipients remain largely unknown. METHODS: We enumerated SARS-CoV-2-specific interferon-I³-producing CD69+ CD4+ and CD8+ T cells at months 4 and 6 from the diagnosis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in 21 KT recipients by intracellular cytokine staining. Overlapping peptides encompassing the SARS-CoV-2 spike (S) glycoprotein N-terminal 1- to 643-amino acid sequence and the membrane protein were used as stimulus. SARS-CoV-2 IgG antibodies targeting the S1 protein were assessed by ELISA at month 6. RESULTS: Detectable (≥0.1…
A High-Performance Asymmetric Supercapacitor Based on Tungsten Oxide Nanoplates and Highly Reduced Graphene Oxide Electrodes.
2021
Tungsten oxide/graphene hybrid materials are attractive semiconductors for energy-related applications. Herein, we report an asymmetric supercapacitor (ASC, HRG//m-WO3 ASC), fabricated from monoclinic tungsten oxide (m-WO3 ) nanoplates as a negative electrode and highly reduced graphene oxide (HRG) as a positive electrode material. The supercapacitor performance of the prepared electrodes was evaluated in an aqueous electrolyte (1 m H2 SO4 ) using three- and two-electrode systems. The HRG//m-WO3 ASC exhibits a maximum specific capacitance of 389 F g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1 , with an associated high energy density of 93 Wh kg-1 at a power density of 500 W kg-1 in a wide 1.6 V ope…
Body mass index as a determinant of clozapine plasma concentrations: A pharmacokinetic-based hypothesis
2021
Background: Knowledge regarding the impact of body composition measures on pharmacokinetics of antipsychotics is limited. Aims: Our aim was to investigate the impact of body weight and body mass index on clozapine pharmacokinetics using a therapeutic drug monitoring database. Methods: A large therapeutic drug monitoring dataset of clozapine plasma concentrations considering three patient subgroups was analysed: a control group (CLZ0, 20–30 kg/m2, n=266), a group with high body mass index (CLZhigh, body mass index ⩾30 kg/m2, n=162) and with low body mass index values (CLZlow, body mass index <20 kg/m2, n=27). Comparisons of plasma and dose-adjusted plasma concentrations (C/D) of clozapine…
A review of second‐order blind identification methods
2021
Second-order source separation (SOS) is a data analysis tool which can be used for revealing hidden structures in multivariate time series data or as a tool for dimension reduction. Such methods are nowadays increasingly important as more and more high-dimensional multivariate time series data are measured in numerous fields of applied science. Dimension reduction is crucial, as modeling such high-dimensional data with multivariate time series models is often impractical as the number of parameters describing dependencies between the component time series is usually too high. SOS methods have their roots in the signal processing literature, where they were first used to separate source sign…
Surface and interface effects on the current-voltage characteristic curves of multiwall carbon nanotube-Si hybrid junctions selectively probed throug…
2021
The possibility to increase the efficiency of photovoltaic (PV) cells based on hybrid carbon nanotube (CNT)–Si heterojunctions is related to the ability to control the chemical properties of the CNT–Si interface and of the CNT bundle layer. In spite of the encouraging performances of PV cells based on multiwall (MW) CNT, so far few efforts have been made in the study of this device compared to single wall (SW) CNT–Si interfaces. Here, surface and interface effects on the current–voltage characteristic curves of MW CNT–Si hybrid junctions are investigated through exposure to HF vapors and to 10 ppm-NO2 and compared to the effects detected in SW CNT–Si junctions. Quite similar results in term…
Prediction of type 2 diabetes mellitus based on nutrition data
2021
Abstract Numerous predictive models for the risk of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) exist, but a minority of them has implemented nutrition data so far, even though the significant effect of nutrition on the pathogenesis, prevention and management of T2DM has been established. Thus, in the present study, we aimed to build a predictive model for the risk of T2DM that incorporates nutrition data and calculates its predictive performance. We analysed cross-sectional data from 1591 individuals from the population-based Cooperative Health Research in the Region of Augsburg (KORA) FF4 study (2013–14) and used a bootstrap enhanced elastic net penalised multivariate regression method in order to bu…
High efficacy of face masks explained by characteristic regimes of airborne SARS-CoV-2 virus abundance
2021
Abstract Airborne transmission is an important transmission pathway for viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. Regions with a higher proportion of people wearing masks show better control of COVID-19, but the effectiveness of masks is still under debate due to their limited and variable efficiencies in removing respiratory particles. Here, we analyze experimental data and perform model calculations to show that this contrast can be explained by the different regimes of abundance of particles and viruses. Because of the large number of particles exhaled during human respiration and vocalization, indoor environments are usually in a particle-rich regime which means that masks cannot prevent the inhal…
Simvastatin in vitiligo: an update with recent review of the literature.
2021
Patients with vitiligo often seek medical attention, as it diminishes their quality of life resulting in significant morbidity. Several topical and systemic therapies are in vogue targeting the immunological aspect of this disease, but results are often unsatisfactory, and complete cure remains elusive. Recently, simvastatin, a 3-hydroxy-3-methylyglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor, is being evaluated for vitiligo management because of its multimodal action, easy availability, and low cost. The proposed multimodal actions range from anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, to immunomodulatory properties which may be of therapeutic benefit in vitiligo patients. The authors intend to eva…
Life-Cycle Land-Use Requirement for PV in Vietnam
2021
Over the last 15 years, photovoltaics (PV) in Vietnam has experienced development. The increased installed capacity of PV requires more land for installation sites as well as for manufacturing the plants’ component and waste treatment during the plants’ decommissioning. As a developing country, in which more than 80% of the population’s livelihood depends on agriculture, there are concerns about the competition of land for agriculture and solar development. This paper estimates the life-cycle land-use requirement for PV development in Vietnam, to provide the scientific-based evidence for policy makers on the quantity of land required, so that the land budget can be suitably allocated. The d…

Amplitude analysis and branching-fraction measurement of $D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{0}_{S}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$
2021
Using 6.32 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energies between 4.178 and 4.226 GeV,~an amplitude analysis of the $D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{0}_{S}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ decays is performed for the first time to determine the intermediate-resonant contributions. The dominant component is the $D_s^+ \to K^*(892)^+\overline{K}^*(892)^0$ decay with a fraction of $(40.6\pm2.9_{\rm stat}\pm4.9_{\rm sys})$%. Our results of the amplitude analysis are used to obtain a more precise measurement of the branching fraction of the $D^{+}_{s}\rightarrow K^{0}_{S}K^{-}\pi^{+}\pi^{+}$ decay, which is determined to be $(1.46\pm0.05_{\rm stat}\pm0.05_{\rm sy…

Professional activism in journalism and education in gender equality through Twitter
2021
This article analyses professional activism by women journalists' organisations which, through their Twitter accounts, contribute to extend the value of equality between men and women, which is activism that embodies the ethical or deontological codes of this profession. The tweets of these groups not only propose improvements in the expression and writing of news, after reporting biased, stereotypical or denigrating uses of language by large Spanish media, but also recognise and applaud contents that dignify women or place them in the public sphere that they deserve. A content analysis methodology was followed by applying both quantitative and qualitative analyses to a sample of 7,424 twee…
