Fracturas diafisarias de húmero : enclavijamiento intramedular con agujas de Hackethal por vía epicondílea lateral

Presentamos un estudio de 58 pacientes con fracturas diafisarias de húmero tratados mediante enclavijamiento intramedular con agujas de Hackethal por la vía epicondílea lateral. Se analizan las indicaciones quirúrgicas y la técnica empleada y se valoran los resultados finales tanto clínica como radiológicamente, obteniendo buenos resultados en el 85% de los casos y malos en el 15%. La causa principal de estos malos resultados fue la aparición de pseudoartrosis, relacionándose ésta con diástasis del foco de fractura después de la reducción y la existencia de fuerzas distractoras y rotacionales en los métodos de inmovilización postquirúrgica. Se presenta un caso clínico de occipitalización del atlas, alteración congénita caracterizada por la existencia de una fusión parcial o total del anillo óseo del atlas con la base del occipucio. En el 50% de los casos se asocia una impresión basilar que origina síntomas neuroló- gicos por compresión neural si la odontoides sobrepasa la abertura del foramen magnun. Es importante el determinar la existencia de esta anomalía, incluso ante síntomas comunes como dolor cervical y vértigo. En este trabajo se estudia el contenido micropaleontológico de los distintos cuerpos sedimentarios que se encuentran en los sistemas dunares apoyados en el frente acantilado de la Serra Gellada. En el sector "Illots" se han podido reconocer dos niveles de dunas, I-2/3 e I-4, que parecen responder a episodios regresivos distintos y, por tanto, construidos a partir de áreas de producción con ambientes diferentes. AbstractThe participants (originally 196 boys and 173 girls) in an ongoing longitudinal study were examined using peer nomination and teacher rating at ages 8 and 14 years. Criminal records were collected at age 27 years. Se hace especial mención a la necesidad del tratamiento simultáneo de ls partes blandas y del hueso, manteniendo los requerimientos biomecánicos del pie como objetivo del tratamiento. We present a case of conminutcd open fracture of the first metatarsal bone of the right foot treated by using an external fixator as a method of osteosynthesis. Simultaneous treatment of bone and soft tissues is recomended. The aim of the treatment should be to restore biomechanical requirements of the foot.

This chapter gives a brief introduction to Monte Carlo simulations of classical O(n) spin systems such as the Ising (n = 1), XY (n = 2), and Heisenberg (n = 3) models. In the first part I discuss some aspects of the use of Monte Carlo algorithms to generate the raw data. Here special emphasis is placed on nonlocal cluster update algorithms which proved to be most efficient for this class of models. The second part is devoted to the data analysis at a continuous phase transition. Earlier measurements at LEP of isolated hard photons in hadronic Z decays, attributed to radiation from primary quark pairs, have been extended in the ALEPH experiment to include hard photon production inside hadron jets. All exhaust gases accumulating along the entire tunnel distance readily leave the tunnel exits in a very concentrated form. Since modern urban traffic management affords more and more tunnel constructions within highly built-up areas, a reliable calculation of the resulting immission distribution in the neighbourhood of tunnel exits is of great importance.

A Precise Measurement of the Tau Lepton Lifetime

The tau lepton lifetime has been measured using three different methods with the DELPHI detector. Two measurements of one-prong decays are combined, accounting for correlations, giving a result of \tau_\tau = 291.8 \pm 3.3 \mbox{ (stat.)} \pm 2.0 \mbox{(sys.) fs} while the decay length distribution of three-prong decays gives the result \tau_{\tau} = 286.7 \pm 4.9 \mbox{ (stat.)} \pm 3.3 \mbox{ (sys.) fs}. Combining the results presented here with previous DELPHI measurements, we get \tau_{\tau} = 291.4 \pm 3.0 fs and find that the ratio of the coupling constant for tau decay relative to that for muon decay is 0.990 \pm 0.009, compatible with lepton universality.
