Bei 48 Kindern mit Blasenekstrophie und Epispadie, die in den Jahren 1964–1981 behandelt wurden, wurde bei 38 Patienten die Ureterosigmoideostomie mit antirefluxiver ureterocolischer Anastomose nach Goodwin (Abb. 1) durchgefuhrt. Bei den Fruhkomplikationen, die bei 5 Kindern innerhalb der ersten 3 postoperativen Monate auftraten, waren 3 Falle von akuter Pyelonephritis, bei einem Patienten wurde durch eine Dunndarmadhasion und in einem weiteren Fall durch eine Urinextravasation die operative Reintervention erforderlich.

This phenomenon has been studied with electron microscopy and histochemical tests in two species of higher termites, Cubitermes fungifaber and Macrotermes bellicosus. Physical Aspects of the Atmospheric Aerosol

The atmospheric aerosol is a trace substance of the troposhere as well as the trace gases. Therefore a number of similiarities should be expected. As an example a common model on residence time is developed and discussed in its results. The residence time connects the content of a reservoir (size distribution for aerosols) with its source strength or removal rate. This is presented for the aerosol. In addition other physical properties of the tropospheric aerosol like optical, electrical and water uptake properties are discussed.

Phagocytosis of erythrocytes in the subarachnoid space at spinal nerve exits

After intracisternal injection of heparinised autologous blood in cats, spinal nerve exits (SNE) of the subarachnoid space (SAS) were examined by scanning and transmission electron microscopy. Phagocytes, erythrocytes and erythrophages (= macrophages which had phagocytosed red blood cells) were found at SNE. Some lining cells of the SAS had retracted from the adjacent cells and had rounded up. Cells which formed an integral part of the subarachnoid lining cells also had phagocytosed erythrocytes. Debris of an exhausted erythrophage was phagocytosed by other macrophages. Finally the observation has been made that erythrophages are capable of leaving the SAS actively by migrating through the …

In den voraufgegangenen Referaten ist mehrfach auf die Bedeutung von Glykosidintoxikationen hingewiesen worden. Sie werden definiert als kardiale und oder extrakardiale, im wesentlichen gastrointestinale und zentralnervose Storphanomene, die durch eine relativ oder absolut zu hohe Glykosidapplikation verursacht sind. Als wesentliches klinisches Kriterium einer glykosidbedingten Verursachung gilt das Abklingen der Symptomatik nach Absetzen der Medikation. Dieses Kriterium hat bei der vielfaltigen Konditionierung der kardialen und extrakardialen Symptomatik naturgemas keine sehr hohe Spezifitat, erst recht keine Signifikanz.

Quantitative determination of ochratoxin A in vegetable foods

A simple method for the quantitative determination of ochratoxin A (OA) in rice and other vegetable foods (oatmeal, coconut flakes and peas) is described. This procedure implies an acetonitrile-4% KCl -6N HCl (88+10+2) extraction of the acidic OA, subsequent twodimensional thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and detection by fluorescence after exposure to ammonia fumes (excitation at 340 nm; emission at 475 nm). The quantitative detection limit for OA in rice or coconut flakes is 2.4–4 μg/kg and the recovery is 96%. For oatmeal and peas the detection limit is only 20 μg/kg because of the interference by other metabolites.

Abstract Core level X-ray photoelectron spectra of 1:1 adducts of SnCl4 and RSnCl3 with DPE {[RnSnCl4−n} · DPE (n = 1, R = Me, Bun, Octn, Phn; n = 2, R = Ph; DPE = 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane], have been measured in solid phase. The Sn3d 5 2 binding energies, corrected for the Madelung potential at the metal atom, are well correlated with both partial atomic charge on tin, accounting for relaxation upon ionization, and 119Sn Mossbauer isomer shifts. The results are discussed in terms of these molecular parameters.

It is shown that gauge theories give contributions to neutrinoless double-β decay [(ββ)0ν] which are not covered by the standard parametrizations. While probably small, their existence raises the question of whether the observation of (ββ)0ν implies the existence of a Majorana mass term for the neutrino. For a 'natural' gauge theory we argue that this is indeed the case.
