Die diskreten Bewegungsgruppen der Ebene dienen zur Beschreibung der Symmetrieeigenschaften von Flachenornamenten. Diese Gruppen sollen hier zunachst vollstandig aufgezahlt werden, die Beweise behandeln wir an spaterer Stelle.

Abstract The title compounds have been easily synthesized by reacting antimony(III) catecholates, C 6 H 4 O 2 SbX, with 1,10-phenanthroline. The infrared spectra of the solids are in accordance with a chelating behaviour of the phenanthroline ligand and the molecular monomeric nature of the fluoride derivative. In the case of the chloride, and possibly also for X  Br and I, infrared data are better interpreted admitting a consistent ionic SbX bond interaction. The conductance data for their methanolic solutions also indicate a distinctive behaviour of the fluoride derivative, this being weakly ionized, whereas the remaining halides behave as 1:1 electrolytes. Impact of Localized Microwave Hyperthermia on the Oxygenation Status of Malignant Tumors

Considerable insight into the mechanisms of heat induced cell death in vitro has been gained during recent years (for reviews see 1–3). Besides the direct cell killing effect of heat, many microenvironmental or milieu factors seem to play an important role during heat treatment of solid tumors in vivo, such that a preferential effect of hyperthermia on tumors has been postulated for the in situ conditions. Environmental factors affecting the tumor milieu, such as tissue oxygen partial pressures, pH values, glucose (?) and lactate levels, nutrient supply and drainage of wastes, have thus become a subject of topical interest.

Numerical solution of a class of nonlinear boundary value problems for analytic functions

We analyse a numerical method for solving a nonlinear parameter-dependent boundary value problem for an analytic function on an annulus. The analytic function to be determined is expanded into its Laurent series. For the expansion coefficients we obtain an operator equation exhibiting bifurcation from a simple eigenvalue. We introduce a Galerkin approximation and analyse its convergence. A prominent problem falling into the class treated here is the computation of gravity waves of permanent type in a fluid. We present numerical examples for this case.

Unusual Intranuclear Inclusions in Malignant Fibrous Histiocytoma: Presence in Primary Tumor

We describe previously unreported intranuclear inclusions in 2 cases of malignant fibrous histiocytoma. The inclusions were found in 2-10% of the tumor cells removed from the patients and in 2-10% of the cells examined in tumor tissue xenotransplanted in nude mice. By stereo electron microscopy the inclusions are closely packed undulating fibrils 18-23 nm in diameter. They are sometimes associated with fibrillary bodies. They closely resemble the inclusions reported in some animals inoculated with serum from patients with non-A non-B hepatitis; however, their nature at present is unknown.

Neben diatetischen, intestinalen und medikamentosen Faktoren scheint nach Rohde und Mitarbeiter (5) der Urin-pH die Oxalsaureausscheidung zu beeinflussen. Die genannten Autoren fanden bei Steinpatienten mit infektbedingten pH-Werten uber 7.0 haufig hohe Oxalatgehalte im 24-Stunden-Sammelurin. Ungeklart bleibt die Frage, ob die Zunahme der Oxalsaureausscheidung durch Veranderung im Endharn oder metabolisch bedingt war. Wir uberblicken in unserem Krankengut 51 Patienten mit Peniskarzinom. Der jungste Patient war 35, der alteste 85 Jahre alt, der Altersgipfel nach dem 60. Lebensjahr entspricht der Alters-verteilung anderer Serien. Bei 30% der Patienten lag eine Phimose vor. Um grosere und damit besser vergleichbare Kollektive zu erhalten, fasten wir Patienten mit klinisch ahnlichem Tumorstadium zu 4 Gruppen zusammen.

Korrosionsschichten auf Stahl nach Exposition in Wasser mit bestimmter Harte und Chloridgehalt wurden hinsichtlich der Wirksamkeit beigefugter organischer Inhibitoren mittels Mosbauer- und ESCA-Spektroskopie untersucht. Es entstehen relativ dicke Schichten mit einem unerwartet niedrigen Eisengehalt in Form von FeOOH. Die Schichten enthalten merkliche Mengen von Ionen aus der Testlosung und auch Abbauprodukte der Inhibitormolekule. Letztere werden anscheinend in dem korrosiven Medium zersetzt. The electrical activity of about 30% of a homing pigeon’s pineal cells can be altered by changing the horizontal or vertical component of the natural magnetic field, using two pairs of Helmholtz coils. The cells respond to a rapid and/or gradual change in the magnetic field with either excitation or inhibition. In some of the sensitive cells the responses to magnetic field changes could not be repeated.

Abstract Effective killing-capacity of normal human and guinea pig sera depended on Ca ++ , C1q, C2 and C4. Fixation- and transfer-tests revealed that C1 and C1q were bound more tightly to the serum-sensitive R-forms of Salmonella strains than to the serum-resistant S-forms. Since all experiments were done in the absence of antibodies these findings provide evidence that the antibody-independent C1-binding is one of the initial reactions of the serum-mediated killing.
