Descompresión transpedicular en las fracturas vertebrales por estallido

Se presentan 15 casos de fracturas vertebrales por estallido, a nivel toracolumbar y lumbar, tratadas mediante descompresión transpedicular y estabilización mediante instrumentación CD. Con un periodo mínimo de 1 año de seguimiento, se analiza la calidad de la descompresión del canal desde el punto de vista neurológico y la evolución de la reducción obtenida. Trece pacientes presentaban afectación neurológica incompleta, valorada según la escala de Frankel modificada por Bradford. Los casos se distribuyeron de la siguiente forma: T8 (1) T12 (1), L1 (5), L2 (3), L3 (2), L4 (1) y L5 (2). The light-harvesting complexes (LHC) were isolated from the unicellular alga Mantoniella squamata (Prasinophyceae) by sucrose-density centrifugation. Beside the major LHC (II), a photosystem I complex was obtained that could be dissociated into a photosystem I core complex and an associated LHC I. Complex luminescence decay kinetics have been observed in Gd2SiO5:Ce crystals under electron beam irradiation. Absorption and photoluminescence excitation spectra, decay kinetics in various excitation bands over a wide range of photon energies from 3.6 to 7.0 eV in the temperature region from 80 to 400 K as well as the spectra of the glow curve creation efficiency at 80 K are examined. Determination of the glass transition temperature of poly(cyclohexyl acrylate) from oxygen permeability measurements

Abstract The glass transition temperature ( T g ) of poly(cyclohexyl acrylate) (PCA) has been obtained from measurements of the oxygen permeability ( P = 0.60 barrers, T g = 23.5 ± 2.0°C) using a potentiostatic electrochemical sensor, and from the oxygen diffusion coefficient ( D = 0.12 × 10 −8 cm 2 s −1 , T g = 24.0 ± 1.8°C) by the time-lag method. A T g of 25 ± 1°C was found by differential scanning calorimetry and a T g of 25.0 ± 3.5°C was obtained from the specific volume by dilatometry. The fractional free volume ( v f ) at T g is 0.020 ± 0.002, which is slightly below (∼ 20%) most glassy polymers. Creating a conditional mutation of Wnt-1 by antisense transgenesis provides evidence that Wnt-1 is not essential for spermatogenesis.

We have used mice transgenic for an antisense construct for Wnt-1 to study the role of this gene in post-meiotic sperm development. The human PGK-2 promoter provided levels of Wnt-1 antisense mRNA in testes in 5 transgenic lines greatly in excess of Wnt-1 mRNA concentrations, and Wnt-1 mRNA levels were greatly decreased in the lines, by 98% in three of them. There was a general correlation between copy number of the insert, levels of antisense RNA, and decreases in mRNA. There was little effect of the antisense transgene on fertility or testicular histology suggesting that normal levels of Wnt-1 transcript are not essential for spermatogenesis.

α, ω-Dipolar amphiphiles: Influence of rigid and flexible units on aggregation behavior

Mono- and α,ω-dipolar amphiphiles with hydrophilic pyridinium head groups, and flexible and rigid hydrophobic parts have been synthesized. Surface tension and conductivity measurements proved that micellar aggregates for amphiphiles 1–4 are formed. The incorporation of rigid units leads to a decrease in the critical micellar concentration (CMC): the rigid monopolar amphiphile 2 aggregates at lower concentration than the flexible monopolar amphiphile 1. Publisher Summary This chapter investigates the environmental impact of mining activities in the Hermioni area, Greece, including the offshore area. A chemical analysis of sediments associated with diabase lavas in the Hermioni mine area has shown significant enrichments in Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, and As relative to normal pelagic clays. Marked geographic compositional variations within the Hermioni area have been observed, the highest metal enrichments found at Baroutospelia. Mineralogically the Fe–Mn sediments contain hematite, quartz, and minor amounts of illite, smectites, and feldspars.
